Ring of Fire

The screenshot shows a newly added feature to Google Earth whereby the location of major earthquakes around the world over the past 40 years can be visualised. I've zoomed in on my neck of the woods to show the western end of Java and the southern tip of Sumatra. The reddish circles represent earthquakes and the orange triangle are active volcanoes. If you click on a circle, a pop-up window displays details of the quake including magnitude, location, date, depth and severity. As you can see, I'm living in a virtual mine field and where the next temblor will be is anyone's guess. It could be right under my feet.

The new feature can be accessed by going to Layers in the Sidebar and selecting Places of Interest >>> Geographic Features >>> Earthquakes.
